What's New at Stevens

Parents, faculty and students watched as 4^th graders combined physics and artistic creativity for the annual Egg Drop. The Egg Drop is a tradition at Stevens , so old, no one knows when it started. Each student designed a container for their fresh egg which would allow the egg to remain unbroken when dropped from a high point. The packages were then dropped from the 2 story roof in the yard at Newport or in Hoboken from the 3^rd floor classroom window. Everyone cheered as 3^rd graders opened each package upon landing. Some were successful and some were not. Everyone cheered and had a great time.

If you were anywhere near the Jersey City/Hoboken waterfront Thursday evening, you were sure to hear the beautiful music coming from Stevens Newport gym. The Annual Spring Concert was well attended and well received. The concert opened with the 3^rd & 4^th grade recorder groups from both campuses. Also featured were performances by 5^th and 6^th grade cellists, 5^th grade flutists, and both acoustic and bass guitar solos and ensembles. Musical choices ranged from the traditional (a Brahms symphony) to classic rock (Jimi Hendrix, Fire). Vocal highlights included the sweet sounds of the Stevens Chorus and some lovely vocalists with songs that included She Talks to Angels and Winter Song. An original piano composition, a saxaphone ensemble and some riveting drum solos rounded out the evening. Many thanks to all the Stevens music teachers; Gregory Leto, Andy Graziano, Karen Purpura, Paul Ognissanti, Jennifer Axelson and Bruce Williams for all their hard work and inspiration.
