Leadership Council

T he Leadership Council is Stevens’ progressive take on traditional student government.
As part of their summer homework, 8th grade students considered how they should take on leadership roles in our community and they were unanimous in their decision that elections should not be part of the process. Instead the Council involves the entire 8th grade class and they have divided themselves into committees devoted to school beautification, assemblies, middle school events, community service, and representation of middle school students’ views to the administration. Each committee has its own faculty advisor allowing 8th graders to further polish their skills in collaborating with both peers and adults.  An additional committee, “Design for the Future” is working with departing Head of School Zoë Hauser, at her request to offer advice and suggestions for continued improvement to the future school leaders.
