Letter from the Director of Admissions

Thank you for visiting Stevens Cooperative School’s website. We are delighted that you are here and hope that you will spend time learning about the exciting things that are going on at our school.

From our humble beginnings as a playgroup for the children of the faculty of Stevens Institute, to our present-day reality as a school of over 400 students from the 2s through 8th grade, Stevens has always been at the forefront of progressive education in Hudson County. While many things have changed since the school's conception in 1949, Stevens' commitment to both progressive education and parental involvement has been unwavering.

Take some time to explore what we do to enable students to become life-long learners and responsible citizens with the skills necessary to succeed beyond our school doors. Check out our facilities – from our purpose built school for young children on River Street in Hoboken, to the beautiful new gym and outdoor play spaces at our facility in Newport (Jersey City). Discover our cooperative structure which allows parents to be involved in meaningful ways in the governance of their children’s school and education.

Deciding what school is right for your child is not easy. We hope that this website will answer many of your questions, and if you have yet more, that you will contact me.
