At Stevens, teachers are required to be adaptable, flexible and creative as they are dedicated to supporting and challenging each child as an individual as well as a member of the group.
I n the elementary school grades, there are two teachers in each classroom. Most head teachers have master's degrees (many from Bank Street College of Education, a leader in training progressive educators) and most assistant teachers are enrolled in a master's program. The classroom teachers are supported by teachers who are specialists in math, languages and science. Additional specialists in music, art, movement and physical education round out the faculty. The school also employs a learning support teacher and therapist.
Stevens' dedicated administrators contribute their knowledge and expertise in managing the many aspects of the school. All the staff work tirelessly to uphold Stevens' mission and philosophy. This combination of dedication and experience helps to create a very special community.
