Middle School Head Teacher

Physical Education Teacher

The academic team is seeking a physical education teacher for 1st-8th grade.

  • Teach cognitive concepts about motor skills and fitness
  • Observe and inform students of corrective measures necessary for skill and improvement
  • Instruct students on importance of regular amounts of appropriate physical activity now and throughout life
  • Assess the skill level of students and provide differentiated instruction for various ability groupings
  • Offer alternatives during classes to accommodate different levels of fitness
  • Explain and enforce safety rules governing sports, recreational activities, and the use of sports and exercise equipment
  • Maintain order among students
  • Document attendance, grades and other records
  • Confer with parents or guardians, teacher and administrators to report on students’ progress
  • Bachelor’s degree required, strong written and verbal skills

Facilities Manager

Start date: immediate 

This person will be responsible for the operations, maintenance, cleanliness, and overall care of our four buildings which encompass approximately 60,000 square feet. Facility Manager should have a background knowledge and/or experience in facility care and maintenance. This individual will carry out and perform facilities-care functions with expertise while also maintaining a strategic disposition toward facility improvements/enhancements and long-term care. This is a 12 month position. Facility manager is a member of the leadership team and directly reports to the head of school. Responsibilities also include but are not limited to:

 

  • Developing/maintaining/executing all safety and security procedures, policies, and drills 
  • Overseeing all projects related to summer facility work, construction and facility additions/modifications
  • Acting as primary liaison to all landlords
  • Co-leading the Board Space committee and required to plan and execute an approved facilities budget
  • Oversight of custodians and regular work progress updates in all buildings
  • Overseeing warrantees, maintenance contracts, and maintenance/janitorial needs
  • Creation/oversight of maintenance and facilities reporting system
  • Placing orders related to furniture, fixtures, and equipment in conjunction with the business office and academic team members
  • Oversight of set-up/breakdowns for events and meetings
  • Reviewing and informing facility strategic plan
  • Transportation management of furniture, supplies, etc. between buildings
  • Candidates should be organized and possess strong communication/interpersonal skills
  • Bachelor’s degree and/or related degrees in building management, construction, engineering, architecture, etc. expected.
  • Prior school facility management experience is strongly preferred

Openings for Summer 2013

Summer Programs Assistant Director


This person will be responsible for most of the day to day operations of one of our buildings under the supervision of the Director. This includes programs, teacher supervision, parent questions and office responsibilities.

-Must be available June 17th-August 9th as well as other open house, tour and orientation dates.
-Bachelor’s degree required
-At least four years experience working in a camp setting and/or in teaching children ages 4–11
-Excellent communication skills (both phone and e-mail)
-Creativity, flexibility and enthusiasm
-Demonstrate ability to develop creative activities
-Standard First Aid and CPR certification or equivalent or willingness to obtain
-Adept at incorporating Stevens Cooperative School's philosophy and progressive education tenants into camp program
-Candidates should be organized and prior administrative experience is a plus

Specialty Class Assistant Teachers

 

Seeking assistant teachers for specialty classes for students in K-8th grade. 

A perfect position for student teachers and current college students. Experience working with elementary aged children required. 

Each specialty class runs for one week during the summer.  Refer to our summer programs page to view the schedule of classes.  Individuals may assist in more than one class if they do not run concurrently.

Head and Assistant Floater Teachers

Seeking head and assistant "floater" teachers to work with children in PreK-4th grade whose responsibilities include substituting for an absent teacher in any age group and/or supporting teachers as needed. Flexibility is a must. Floater teachers travel with all field trip groups.

Head teacher: Bachelors degree, experience with children in PreK-4th grade and at least one year of teaching experience required.

Assistant teacher: Experience with children in PreK-4th grade required.
